Bitwise Asset Management published its Crypto Market Review (Q4 2026) on October 8, 2026, describing a sharp change from conditions three months earlier. The firm said prices, onchain activity and ETF flows had been falling, but that nearly every fundamental indicator it tracks had since turned sharply higher. The review presents Bitwise’s assessment through 67 charts and tables covering market performance, onchain fundamentals, tokenized stocks, crypto equities, ETP flows, portfolio construction and adoption.

The report’s central large-cap performance figure was a 46.39% rise in the Bitwise 10 Large Cap Crypto Index. Bitwise said the index tracks the 10 largest crypto assets and that all 10 constituents recorded double-digit gains. That makes the reported advance broad within Bitwise’s selected large-cap benchmark, while not establishing that every crypto asset or market segment rose by the same amount.

Bitwise also highlighted growth in tokenized stocks, spot bitcoin ETF flows and decentralized perpetual futures activity. The firm reported that tokenized stocks rose 65.5% to a new all-time high near $3.2 billion. It also said spot bitcoin ETFs took in roughly $6 billion, including $3.5 billion in August alone, and that open interest on decentralized perpetual futures exchanges reached a record near $26 billion.

These figures measure different areas of the market and should be read separately. The large-cap index reflects Bitwise’s 10-asset benchmark, while the tokenized-stock number concerns that specific market segment. The ETF figure refers to reported spot bitcoin ETF inflows, and the perpetuals figure refers to open interest on decentralized perpetual futures exchanges. Bitwise presented the combined signals as evidence that the indicators it follows had improved after the earlier period of declines.

What Bitwise reported across market segments

The 46.39% gain in the Bitwise 10 Large Cap Crypto Index is the review’s clearest stated measure of crypto-asset price performance. Bitwise defined the index as tracking the 10 largest crypto assets and said every constituent posted a double-digit gain. The detail matters because it describes participation across all components of that index, rather than a result driven by only one named constituent.

For tokenized stocks, Bitwise reported a 65.5% increase to near $3.2 billion and called the level a new all-time high. The firm said Robinhood, Coinbase and others entered the space. Its release provides the aggregate percentage change and approximate market value, but it does not set out the individual contribution or role of each company it named.

Spot bitcoin ETF flows were another part of Bitwise’s account of improving conditions. The firm reported roughly $6 billion of inflows for the reviewed period, including $3.5 billion in August alone. According to Bitwise, those inflows flipped year-to-date net flows back to positive. The August figure therefore represents more than half of the approximately stated total and is important context for the flow trend described in the report.

Bitwise separately reported record open interest near $26 billion on decentralized perpetual futures exchanges. It said a growing share of that open interest was tied to stocks, commodities, FX and pre-IPO shares. This is distinct from the reported ETF inflow figure: one covers activity on decentralized perpetual futures exchanges, while the other covers inflows into spot bitcoin ETFs.

Taken together, the figures offer a multi-segment snapshot rather than a single market-wide measurement. Bitwise cited its large-cap index, the tokenized-stock market, spot bitcoin ETF flows and decentralized perpetual futures open interest. The release does not assign one common cause to each development. Instead, it groups them as indicators that turned higher after the earlier weakness described by the firm.

How to read Bitwise’s reported signals

The most direct comparison in the review is between the 46.39% reported rise in Bitwise’s large-cap crypto index and the 65.5% gain reported for tokenized stocks. Both are positive changes, but they have different scopes. One concerns a Bitwise index of the 10 largest crypto assets, while the other concerns the tokenized-stock segment that Bitwise placed near $3.2 billion.

The ETF and decentralized-perpetual figures also answer different questions. Bitwise reported roughly $6 billion in spot bitcoin ETF inflows, including $3.5 billion in August, while reporting record open interest near $26 billion on decentralized perpetual futures exchanges. Readers comparing the figures should avoid treating an ETF inflow total and a perpetuals open-interest figure as interchangeable measures.

Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan said he had not seen as much real-world adoption during almost a decade in crypto as he was seeing at the time of the review. He described that environment as what he would want to see for the start of a crypto spring. That is Hougan’s assessment, while the release’s underlying examples are Bitwise’s selected measures of market performance, ETF flows and activity.

The practical takeaway is to retain the publication date and the boundaries of each measure. As of the October 8 release, Bitwise said its large-cap index had risen, tokenized stocks had reached a stated all-time high, year-to-date spot bitcoin ETF net flows had turned positive, and decentralized perpetuals open interest had set a reported record. The release documents those conditions but does not establish whether they will continue.

  • Bitwise reported a 46.39% gain in its 10-asset large-cap crypto index, with double-digit gains for all constituents.
  • Bitwise said tokenized stocks rose 65.5% to a new all-time high near $3.2 billion.
  • The firm reported roughly $6 billion of spot bitcoin ETF inflows, including $3.5 billion in August alone.
  • Bitwise reported record open interest near $26 billion on decentralized perpetual futures exchanges.
