About Chainlink
Sergey Nazarov and Steve Ellis started Chainlink in 2017 as a decentralized oracle network that connects smart contracts with data from outside the blockchain, which the blockchains themselves cannot reach. LINK is the network's token, used to pay node operators for their services and to fund subscription accounts.
The network is made up of a group of independent nodes, which gather information from outside the blockchain, check it and pass it on to smart contracts.
