The maths behind the most-used tools, in plain terms.
Dollar-cost averaging
average price = total invested ÷ coins bought
Buying a fixed amount on a schedule gets more coins when prices are low and fewer when they are high.
Profit and loss
profit % = (value now − cost − fees) ÷ cost × 100
Fees on both the buy and the sell reduce the real return, so the calculator includes them.
Market cap
price = market cap ÷ circulating supply
A price target only makes sense next to the market cap it implies.
Gas fees
fee = gas used × (base fee + tip)
A plain transfer uses 21,000 gas. A swap uses about 150,000, so it costs roughly seven times more.
About this page
Crypto Tools gathers ten free calculators and trackers built on live exchange prices. The cryptocurrency calculators work out profit and ROI on a trade, the value of regular DCA buys, a weighted average buy price and the price a coin would reach at another market cap. A portfolio allocation calculator turns target weights into the trades needed to reach them.
Two converters handle quick sums: the crypto converter moves between the 100 largest coins and 12 currencies, and the BTC to USD converter covers bitcoin and sats. Three live trackers complete the set: the crypto Fear & Greed Index for market sentiment, an Ethereum gas tracker and a bitcoin halving countdown. No account or download is needed for any of them.
Quotes come from Binance, OKX and Coinbase, with DefiLlama for coins none of them lists, and refresh every 5 minutes. Tools that look back in time use one closing price per UTC day for the 40 largest coins from 2020 on. Currency rates are daily reference rates, mostly from the European Central Bank. Results are calculations, not forecasts or advice.
