This page compares cryptocurrency blockchain networks on the numbers that show real use. The table puts twelve of the largest chains side by side: Layer 1s such as Ethereum, Solana and Tron, and Layer 2s such as Base and Arbitrum. Each row shows total value locked and its change, DEX volume, stablecoins on the chain, fees, active addresses and the number of apps.
Total value locked (TVL) is the value of assets deposited in DeFi apps on a chain, in US dollars. Fees are what users paid the network over 24 hours, and active addresses count wallets that sent at least one transaction. Below the table, charts rank chains by TVL, by growth and by market share, and compare DEX volume by chain day by day.
DefiLlama supplies TVL, DEX volume, fees, stablecoins and app counts, refreshed every hour. Transactions and active addresses are daily figures from growthepie, and only networks with free public data have them, so a blank cell means no data rather than no users. Each chain opens a profile with its full history.
Questions
Short answers to what people ask most.
It is the US dollar value of assets deposited in DeFi apps on one blockchain. Across all chains, TVL is $96.78 billion today.
DefiLlama tracks DeFi activity on 330 networks. This page profiles twelve of the largest in detail.
Ethereum has held the largest share of DeFi value for years. The Top chains by TVL chart shows the current order and each chain's share.
A Layer 1 is a base blockchain such as Ethereum or Solana. A Layer 2, such as Base or Arbitrum, processes transactions off the main chain and settles them on Ethereum, which lowers fees.
Active addresses appear only for networks that publish free daily data. A chain without such a feed shows no count, even when it has plenty of DeFi activity.
DefiLlama supplies TVL, DEX volume, fees, stablecoins and apps, refreshed every hour. growthepie supplies transactions and active addresses as daily figures.
