Before you buy a memecoin
Three facts that apply to every coin on this page.
Price is attention
A memecoin has no earnings or product behind it. Its price is what the next buyer will pay, so it can rise or fall by half in days. Size any position for a total loss.
Liquidity can vanish
liquidity ÷ market capA large market cap with a thin pool means a sale moves the price a lot. On new tokens the liquidity can be pulled out by the creator. Check the pool before you trade.
Read the contract
mint · freeze · ownerSome tokens let the creator mint more, freeze wallets or block sales. Explorers and token checkers show these controls. If you cannot verify them, treat the token as unsafe.

About this page
Where the data comes from and how to read it.
The list is CoinGecko’s meme category: its largest coins by market cap (up to 250), with prices, 1-hour, 24-hour and 7-day changes and a 7-day price line. Bridged and pegged copies of a coin are left out so nothing is counted twice, and so are coins traded less than $10,000 in a day, whose market cap is not a price anyone pays. Exchange prices from Binance, OKX and Coinbase refresh the larger coins every few minutes.
Sector figures at the top — market cap, 24-hour and 7-day change, volume and share of the whole market — are the same figures as on the Memecoins category page. The chart’s shape comes from the price history of the largest memes (DefiLlama), set to CoinGecko’s recorded sector market cap.
Chains and themes come from CoinGecko’s categories and coin details. Trending pools and new launches come from GeckoTerminal and pass filters for liquidity, volume, buyers and age. Nothing on this page is a recommendation to buy or sell.
Questions
Short answers to what people ask most.
A meme coin is a cryptocurrency built around a joke, an animal, a person or an internet trend. Most have no product or cash flow, so the price follows attention and trading.
Dogecoin, launched in 2013 on its own blockchain, has long been the largest. The table ranks up to 250 memecoins by market cap and updates through the day.
Prices depend almost entirely on demand from traders. Supply is often huge and liquidity thin, so a few large orders or a shift in attention can move a price by tens of percent in a day.
This page gives no investment advice. Memecoins can lose much of their value in a day, and new launches carry a high risk of rug pulls and hidden owner controls.
Most memecoins are tokens on a chain such as Solana, Ethereum, Base or BNB Chain. A few, like Dogecoin, run on a blockchain of their own.
Memecoin prices and market caps refresh every 15 to 30 minutes, with exchange prices for the largest every 5 minutes. Trending pools and new launches update every 30 minutes.
