About Ethereum Name Service
The Ethereum Name Service works through hierarchical names separated by dots, called domains, and whoever owns a domain controls all of its subdomains. It is a naming system built on the Ethereum blockchain that maps human-readable names to machine-readable identifiers, and ENS is its governance token, held by people who vote on decisions about the service.
People can use the Ethereum Name Service to bring in names they already own from the Internet's Domain Name Service so those names work on the system. The service runs on the Ethereum main network and on a number of test networks.
