Celestia activity: how to evaluate blobs and rollups
Celestia activity is best read as rollup blobs, not raw transaction counts. Check an explorer and dashboard, then compare namespaces over time.

Celestia orders data for rollups. The rollups run their own transactions and publish data to Celestia. To judge activity, look at how much data is posted, by which rollups, and whether posting continues.
Before you start
You need two tools: a Celestia block explorer and a network dashboard. Keep a notes file nearby.
How to evaluate Celestia activity
Start with blobs, because rollups pay Celestia to publish data. A transaction count can rise for other reasons. A dashboard shows total blobs, data size, and active rollups, but namespaces and time give the fuller picture.
- 1Check dashboard totalsOpen a dashboard and note total blobs, data size, and active rollups. Note the date range.
- 2Compare blobs with transactionsA high transaction count does not prove rollup use. Blob count and data size are better signs.
- 3Find active namespacesRead the namespace field on recent blobs in an explorer. A namespace groups blobs from one rollup or project.
- 4Compare over timeCheck the same namespace across several days, not one spike. Spam and test data often appear in bursts.
- 5Match namespaces to rollupsUse explorer labels or the rollup's documentation when a label exists. If none exists, treat it as unidentified.
After you check activity
Record the date and web address for each number. Check the address against Celestia's official documentation before you trust the data. Celestia orders data; it does not run rollups. User activity lives on rollups that post here, so Celestia metrics measure data demand, not rollup user counts.
Frequently asked questions
A blob is data that a rollup publishes to Celestia. Celestia orders and stores it so the rollup's users can retrieve it.
Start from a blob's namespace and look for an explorer label. Many namespaces are unlabeled, so a match may require the rollup's own documentation.
It can show network use, but not rollup user activity. Compare the transaction trend with blob count and data size.
Explorers and data dashboards both publish Celestia stats. Reach the current ones through Celestia's official documentation.
