How to evaluate activity on Sei step by step
You can evaluate Sei activity with public block explorers by comparing transactions, active addresses, fees, and DEX volume over time and spotting bot trades.

On this page
Sei launched its mainnet in August 2023. It runs smart contracts and exchanges, so much of its activity is public.
Which Sei explorer should you open first?
Sei's official documentation lists the current block explorer. Open it and check that it is set to Sei mainnet.
How to evaluate Sei activity step by step
Read the numbers as a set over time.
- 1Pick a time windowUse the same window on every chart, such as a week or a month. A single day can mislead.
- 2Read counts, addresses, and feesCompare transaction count with active addresses and total fees. If count rises but active addresses stay flat, bots may be at work.
- 3Inspect DEX volumeWash trading is fake volume from trades between wallets controlled by one person. Look for a small set of wallets or repeating trades.
- 4Verify token contract and appCompare the contract address with the one in the app's official documentation. A verified badge does not prove the token is official or safe.
- 5Verify official social accountCompare the social handle from Sei's official documentation with the account you found. Ignore handles that appear only in chat.
What should you do after evaluating Sei?
After you use a Sei app, keep records for US taxes. The IRS treats crypto as property, so you generally owe tax on gains when you dispose of it. Swapping tokens counts as a disposal, and so does paying with crypto. A purchase with dollars does not count as a disposal. Save the date, amount, value, wallet address, transaction hash, and fee.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Public explorers show Sei transactions, addresses, and fees without a wallet connection.
No. Bots, incentive programs, and repeated trades can raise the count without many independent users.
