Which tokens can you transfer on Base network?
Base supports ETH and most ERC-20 tokens that live on it, but a token from Ethereum has to be bridged or deployed on Base before it can move there.

On this page
- Base uses Ethereum's ERC-20 standard and the same 0x addresses.
- Most ERC-20 tokens move unless the contract restricts transfers.
- Names and tickers can be copied, so check the contract address.
- Standard transfers pay gas in ETH, though some apps sponsor it.
Base is a network built by Coinbase that settles transactions on Ethereum. ERC-20 is the token standard Ethereum uses, and Base follows it too. That is why a token on Base can carry a name and a ticker you already recognize.
What tokens does Base support?
Base supports ETH, which pays gas, and the ERC-20 standard for other tokens. Most ERC-20 tokens can be transferred unless the contract restricts transfers, for example by freezing wallets or limiting who may hold it. A token that exists only on Ethereum is not on Base until someone bridges it across or the issuer deploys a version there.
How do you verify a Base token?
A name and a ticker can be copied by anyone, so they do not prove which token you hold. Every ERC-20 token has a contract address, and you can look that address up on BaseScan before you send or receive the token. The address your wallet shows should match the one you found.
What do you need to send tokens?
You need ETH on Base in the wallet that sends the transfer, because a standard transfer pays gas in ETH. Some apps sponsor gas through a paymaster, so a token-only wallet may still work. On an exchange, choose the Base network for the deposit or withdrawal.
Does Base have its own token?
Coinbase says Base has no official token, and a token that uses the name BASE comes from a third party. A name and a ticker tell you nothing about who issued a token.
Frequently asked questions
Yes, if the NFT was issued on Base under the ERC-721 or ERC-1155 standard. Moving an NFT works differently from moving an ERC-20 token, so check that the receiving wallet supports Base.
You use a bridge that supports the route and pay Ethereum gas on the Ethereum side. The bridge credits your Base wallet, usually with a representation of the token rather than the original.
It depends on the wallets and services involved. The token may not appear in your Base wallet, and some exchanges and bridges can help recover it while others cannot.
