How to check transaction fees on Polygon PoS
Polygon PoS fees are gas used times gas price, so a wallet estimate can change. Paste your transaction hash into an explorer to see the fee you paid.

On this page
You need a wallet on Polygon PoS and an explorer for that chain, which is not Ethereum mainnet.
What you need before you start
Your wallet shows an estimated fee built from the current Polygon PoS gas price. That estimate is not final, because demand moves the gas price and your transaction's gas use can change.
How to check fees step by step
The explorer lists gas price, gas used, and the total fee. Gas price is what one unit of gas costs, and gas used is how many units the transaction consumed. Total fee is the two multiplied together.
- 1Open a Polygon PoS explorerPick one that names Polygon PoS, then paste your transaction hash from wallet activity into its search box.
- 2Read the two gas numbersBoth appear on the transaction page: the gas price in gwei and the gas used in units.
- 3Multiply the twoDivide the gas price by one billion to get POL, then multiply by the gas used.
- 4Check the statusA confirmed transaction shows a settled fee, and a pending one shows none yet.
After you send: records and checks
Once the transaction confirms, your wallet activity shows the fee it charged. Note it in POL and its dollar value that day, because the IRS treats cryptocurrency as property and paying a fee in POL is generally a taxable disposal. Demand changes the gas price, so check the explorer again before your next confirmation.
Frequently asked questions
Wallets estimate gas use and can add their own gas price. The explorer reports what the network recorded.
POL. Polygon PoS replaced MATIC with POL in September 2024, and fees come out of your POL balance.
You can read the current gas price, but the exact fee depends on the gas used, which is known only after the transaction runs.
Check the hash again in the explorer. Your wallet may let you resubmit the transaction at a higher gas price or cancel it.
