Which tokens can you transfer on the TON network?
On TON you can transfer the native coin, jettons such as USDT, and NFTs. Jettons go to a TON owner address, and the gas fee is paid in the native coin.

The Open Network is a public layer-1 blockchain. Every asset follows a token standard, and that standard decides what a transfer must include.
Which tokens can TON transfer?
TON carries three kinds of assets. The first is its own native coin, and the second is the jetton, TON's standard for a fungible token. Tether issued a native TON version of USDT in April 2024, so a well-known stablecoin moves on the network as a jetton. The third kind is the NFT, which is unique and follows its own standard.
How do jetton transfers work?
A jetton is TON's token standard for fungible tokens. Each holder's balance sits in a separate contract called a jetton wallet, and the network ties that address to the holder's main TON address.
- Send to the recipient's TON owner address, never to a jetton wallet address.
- Keep some of the native coin in the wallet, because the gas fee for the transfer is paid in it.
- Check the jetton's contract address before you send, since copies borrow well-known names and tickers.
What wallet do you need?
Not every wallet that holds TON supports jettons, so check yours first. Exchange deposit addresses are a bigger trap, because many of them take only the native coin. Telegram added a TON-based wallet inside its app in September 2023.
What can go wrong?
A TON address works only on TON. A jetton sent to an address on another network, or to a venue that does not accept jetton deposits, can be lost for good, because a confirmed transfer usually cannot be reversed.
Frequently asked questions
No. Jettons and the native coin live on TON, and Ethereum or Solana addresses belong to other networks. A confirmed TON transfer usually cannot be recovered.
Open your wallet's asset list and look for an option to add a token by its contract address. Many TON wallets detect jettons you receive on their own.
It is the contract that holds your balance of one specific jetton. Your wallet derives it from the jetton's master contract and your own TON address.
