About Curve
What it does, how it earns and what the CRV token is for.
Curve Finance is an automated market maker, a type of decentralized exchange, that mainly swaps assets meant to have the same value. It focuses on those because the DeFi ecosystem holds many wrapped and synthetic tokens that mimic a real asset's price.
People deposit coins into Curve pools, and depositing a coin whose share of the pool is low earns the depositor a larger share of that pool. Deposits are on more than 20 chains, the most on Ethereum as of 2026. CRV is the exchange token of Curve DAO, and liquidity providers of Curve pools earn yield farming rewards paid in CRV. Holders lock their CRV as veCRV to vote on how new CRV emissions are shared out.
