How to verify a transaction on Arbitrum One

Key takeaways
  • A success status is not Ethereum finality.
  • A failed transaction still costs gas.
  • Pending Arbitrum One transactions usually cannot be canceled.
  • Save the hash and the page address as a record.

Short answer

You can verify a transaction on Arbitrum One with its hash on Arbiscan. Copy the hash from your wallet history and paste it into the search field.

You do not need special software, and you do not need to connect your wallet to read a transaction. Anyone can check the public record.

What you need before you start

Open your wallet history and select the Arbitrum One transaction. The wallet shows a transaction hash that starts with 0x. Copy the full hash, then open Arbiscan.

Before you check

  • Open your wallet history.
  • Select the Arbitrum One transaction.
  • Copy the full hash.
  • Open the official Arbiscan site.

How to verify your transaction step by step

Open the transaction page on Arbiscan and read the status first, then look through the details.

  1. 1Paste the hashPaste the hash into the search field and press enter. Check that the page shows the same hash.
  2. 2Read the statusPending means it is not in a block yet. Success means it ran without an error, and failed means it did not complete.
  3. 3Check the addressesThe From field is the sender. The To field is the receiver for a plain ETH transfer and usually a contract for a token transfer or swap.
  4. 4Check the amountsValue shows the ETH sent, often 0 for a token transfer or swap. The page lists the gas fee paid.
  5. 5Check token transfersOpen the token transfers tab to see which tokens moved and how many.
  6. 6Handle a stuck transactionIf it is pending, wait and check again later. You usually cannot cancel it, unlike a pending transaction on Ethereum mainnet.
  7. 7Respond to a failureIf it failed, the transfer did not go through, but gas was still spent. Read the error before you try again.

After you verify: finality and safety

Arbitrum One processes transactions quickly, but final settlement happens later on Ethereum, usually after a challenge period. A success status on Arbiscan does not mean the transaction is final on Ethereum. Save the hash and the page address as a record.

Frequently asked questions

Etherscan tracks Ethereum mainnet, so use Arbiscan for an Arbitrum One transaction.

Open the transaction on Arbiscan and select the token transfers tab. Compare the tokens there with your swap.

Final settlement on Ethereum usually takes about a week because of the challenge period.
