BNY already provides secure digital-asset storage
BNY already provides secure storage for XRP and RLUSD. It also serves as the primary reserve custodian for Ripple USD.

The companies plan to examine issuing new RLUSD tokens and redeeming them for US dollars through BNY. The future service remains subject to final BNY and regulatory approvals.
Accurate reconciliation is essential. Each token movement must match the legal ownership and cash position recorded by the institutions involved.
The C2FO project is another future initiative
Ripple, BNY and C2FO plan to explore tokenized payment processing for supply-chain finance. The work may involve invoices, payment dates and several organisations that must agree on the same transaction information.
The partners have not announced when clients will be able to use these services. The project still requires operating rules, supported jurisdictions and the necessary approvals.
| Service or initiative | Current status |
|---|---|
| Secure storage of XRP and RLUSD | Already supported by BNY |
| Issuing and redeeming RLUSD through BNY | Future work subject to final BNY and regulatory approvals |
| Tokenized payments with C2FO | Exploratory future project subject to approvals |
| Client assets stored or administered by BNY | $63.4 trillion as of 30 September 2026 |
| Assets invested under BNY management | $2.2 trillion as of 30 September 2026 |

BNY reports two different measures of scale
As of 30 September 2026, BNY reported $63.4 trillion in client assets that it stores or administers and $2.2 trillion that it invests under its own management. The first measure covers assets held or serviced for clients; the second covers assets managed through investment decisions. They are separate measures.
The two figures describe different businesses and should not be added together. BNY reports them separately in its financial disclosures.
